In October 2024, Argentina reported a trade surplus of $888 million, a turnaround from the $442 million deficit recorded in October 2023. However, it fell short of the anticipated $1,137 million surplus. This outcome extends Argentina’s streak of trade surpluses to eleven months, following nine months with deficits.
The current surplus mainly results from a 30% increase in exports, contrasted with a 4.9% rise in imports. Argentina’s export revenue reached $7,016 million, predominantly from a spike in agricultural products and raw materials, constituting 69.7% of exports.
Other significant contributions came from manufactured products (22.4%), primary goods (1.8%), and fuels and energy (2.9%). On the import side, total spending was $6,128 million, with the most notable increases in intermediate goods (8.4%), capital goods (16.1%), accessories for capital goods (3.5%), and consumer goods (18.4%).
