In November 2024, France’s business climate index slipped to 96, down from 97 in October. Confidence weakened in most sectors. For example, the construction sector dropped from 100 to 99, services from 101 to 99, and retail from 99 to 98. However, manufacturers felt more positive, with their index rising to 97 from 93 last month.
On a brighter note, the employment climate index increased to 99, up two points from October. This rise is close to the long-term average of 100.
The improvement is mainly due to better views on workforce size in the services sector, including temporary agencies, and to a lesser extent in manufacturing.
