In November 2024, France’s manufacturing climate indicator rose to 96.7, increasing from October’s revised 93 and surpassing the expected 95. This improvement shows that manufacturers are feeling more optimistic. They are less worried about previous production levels, which decreased by seven compared to a drop of 12 in October.
Additionally, concerns about overall order books fell by 21, better than the 25 declines seen last month. Foreign orders also improved, dropping by 19 instead of 22.
Economic Stability Grows as Manufacturers Boost Production
Looking ahead, manufacturers have a brighter outlook on workforce changes, with a positive shift of 2 compared to a negative 1 in October. Their expectations for personal production also increased by 5, up from a decrease of 2 previously. Economic uncertainty has decreased, with the uncertainty gauge lowering to 23 from 25 last month.
However, not all aspects are more positive. Manufacturers have slightly more negative views on general production expectations, which worsened by 14 compared to a 12 decline. They are also less hopeful about future selling price trends, which only increased by three instead of the seven-rise seen in October.
Overall, the manufacturing sector in France shows signs of improvement, although some challenges remain.
